Perineural Injection Therapy (PIT) is a gentle treatment that targets irritated nerves to reduce chronic pain and restore normal nerve function. It involves small, shallow injections of natural solutions such as dextrose placed just under the skin along painful nerve pathways. PIT works by calming hypersensitive pain fibers that can cause burning, tingling, aching, or sharp pain even after an injury has healed. Why does PIT work?

How does PIT stop chronic pain?

What is the science behind the process?

What to expect?

The painful area and responsible nerve(s) are identified and marked. The skin surface is cleansed. Near nerve injections are performed with the goal of immediate reduction in pain. A standard course of perineural subcutaneous injections is 4-6 sessions spaced 1-3 weeks apart.

What is in the PIT solution?

The most common natural agents include dextrose, mannitol, or glycerin.

What are the risks with PIT?

Anytime a needle is placed in the body, there is a risk of infection, bleeding, and nerve irritation. These risks are very rare due to the antiseptic measures and the use of very thin needles. Numerous measures are taken to limit all risks.
